We are grateful to
for freely hosting this site.

The EeePC ships with software based on Xandros and Debian linux. Asus maintains a repository of software and updates. However, for those who would like to expand the functionality beyond what Asus has provided, you may use our software repository.

You can find info about our server status.

How to Use

  • Open a console (alt-F2, type "konsole" OR ctrl-alt-T)

  • type "sudo kwrite /etc/apt/sources.list"

  • At the end of the file, add the line "deb p701 main"

  • Save your changes and exit.

  • If you trust this repository, at the prompt type (or copy & paste) the following line (and press Enter):

      wget -O - | sudo apt-key add -
  • Still in the console, type "sudo apt-get update"

NOTE: The secret key that was used to sign the repository was lost. If you get a GPG badsig error, you need to remove the old key (in the terminal, type: sudo apt-key del EF8A9F70) and add the new key by following the step using "wget" below. Sorry for the inconvenience.

There is also an "etch" section, which you can add in addition to "main" (eg. "deb p701 main etch"). Etch contains packages from Debian Etch that have minimal dependencies that are unmet by packages included with the EeePC p701 distro. Main is intended to contain packages that have been compiled and created on the EeePC.

For the sources to packages in the "etch" section, I refer you to the Debian Etch repository.

Licence & Warranty

The software in our repository is distributed under free licences, but you must consult each package to find the specifics. We maintain this repository simply to make it easier for users of the EeePC to find packages that should be compatible with their system. However, no warranties are offered, either express or implied.

Packages are taken from either Debian 4.0 or Xandros 4.0 repositories and redistributed here unmodified, or modified to better suit the EeePC (as allowable by the licence of each package). Each one has been reported working with the EeePC, but some side-effects could remain unnoticed and you must be willing to accept that installing any additional software may compromise the stability of your system.
